Michael Belmore and Frank Shebageget at the Institute of American Indian Arts

"In August 2006, artists Michael Belmore and Frank Shebageget set out on an expedition to explore the social, environmental and cultural landscape of Northern Ontario. The artists embarked to analyze and unravel their interrelated histories within this traditional Anishnaabe (Ojibwe) territory. They observed many changes to the land: some lake levels were a great deal lower, fields had grown in, forests were lost either to fire or clear cutting, while others were thick with new growth. On their journey, they collected materials and documented sites using digital photography, sketches, notes and video" - from the IAIA's site
